UK Envoy Applauds Pakistan’s Power Sector Reforms

Islamabad: High Commissioner of United Kingdom to Pakistan Jane Marriott met with Minister for Power Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari in Islamabad today. During the meeting, the Minister briefed the High Commissioner about the government’s initiatives in the power sector and the steps being taken to lower electricity prices for both domestic and industrial consumers.

According to Radio Pakistan, Jane Marriott commended the Pakistani government for implementing reforms in the power sector. Minister Leghari highlighted that the electricity generation plan for the country excludes the establishment of any new fossil fuel plants for the next decade. He also mentioned that last year, the share of renewable and clean energy in the energy mix exceeded fifty-five percent.
