UN, China Welcome Ceasefire Announced by Afghanistan & Pakistan

New york: The United Nations and China have welcomed the ceasefire announced by Afghanistan and Pakistan. UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated in a regular briefing that the ceasefire will hold and that all of the outstanding issues will be dealt with diplomatically.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun during his regular briefing in Beijing said Pakistan and Afghanistan are China’s traditional friendly neighbors. He expressed the hope that the two countries will continue to properly handle their differences through dialogue and consultation.
