UN General Assembly Unanimously Passes Resolution Promoting Interreligious Dialogue

New york: The UN General Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution, sponsored by Pakistan and the Philippines, emphasizing the importance of promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue to advance a culture of peace globally.

According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution, which received support from numerous co-sponsoring countries, calls on states to foster inclusion and unity as a means to combat racism, xenophobia, hate speech, violence, and discrimination. The initiative aims to address and dismantle social structures and stereotypes that contribute to divisions among individuals and nations.

While introducing the biennial text, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, highlighted the necessity of promoting a culture of peace. He emphasized that rejecting divisive social structures is crucial for fostering unity and understanding among diverse communities worldwide.
