UN High Commissioner Calls for Action to Prevent Escalation in Middle East

Geneva: The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, has urgently called on all states, including members of the Security Council, to take decisive action to prevent further escalation of conflict in the Middle East. In a plea directed toward global leaders, Türk emphasized the critical need for diplomacy and negotiation to protect civilians from potentially devastating outcomes.

According to Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Türk’s appeal underscores the importance of using international influence to bring conflicting parties to the negotiating table.
