UNISAME urges FBR to extend the last date of filing income tax

Karachi, September 25, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the last date of filing income tax, withholding tax and wealth statements and other connected returns till 31st October 2018 to enable the filers file their tax returns correctly and comfortably without hurry and to avoid mistakes in calculations due to errors of omission and commission.

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the filers were unable to prepare due to the holy month of Muharram ul Haram and secondly the FBR portal is not very efficient as it is giving connectivity issues and login is tedious on the IRIS software. The income tax practitioners are working round the clock but are unable to cope up with the rush of work and need extension of time.

The Union has requested extension of date in good time under Naya Pakistan and not at the last minute extension which is normally given. If extension is given in good time it will save the filers the anxiety and the need to rush unnecessarily. It has been a practice to announce extension on the last date which needs to be avoided.

Thaver said extension of time is needed by both the filers and the income tax practitioners and it s sincerely hoped that the FBR will extend time in the best interest of justice to accommodate all willing to file their returns. UNISAME has also advised all non filers to become filers and avail the benefits of becoming filers and gaining respect as law abiding citizens by paying their share of taxes.
