United Nations Volunteers delegation visits Senate of Pakistan

Islamabad, February 27, 2019 (PPI-OT): A group of United Nations Volunteers as part of the UNV Programme alongwith members of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) visited the Senate Secretariat at Parliament House on Thursday. They were briefed about the electoral and legislative process and various oversight tools. Details of the Committees were elaborated upon as well. UN volunteers, that represented all four provinces took keen interest in the briefing and raised numerous questions regarding the Senate of Pakistan and its different processes.

Later they visited the Senate Museum and Gali-e-Dastoor. The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation.
