Uzbekistan to Launch Direct Flights to Karachi to Enhance Relations with Pakistan

Karachi: Uzbekistan has announced plans to initiate direct flights to Karachi within the year as part of efforts to bolster bilateral relations with Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the announcement was made by Alisher Tukhtaev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, during his recent visit to the city.

The Ambassador stated that Uzbekistan has already implemented a soft visa regime for Pakistani citizens as of September 2023, aiming to facilitate business and tourism between the two nations. Tukhtaev emphasized the trade potential between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, noting that the mutual trade volume reached $387 million last year.

He also acknowledged the success of the “Made in Pakistan” exhibition, a single-country event held in Tashkent last June, which showcased the growing commercial ties between the two countries. The introduction of direct flights is expected to further strengthen these ties by improving connectivity and fostering economic collaboration.
