Veteran Broadcaster Yasmeen Tahir Passes Away at 88

Lahore: Veteran broadcaster of Radio Pakistan, Yasmeen Tahir, passed away in Lahore on Saturday. She was 88. Her funeral prayer is scheduled to be offered after Asar prayer on Sunday.

According to Radio Pakistan, Yasmeen Tahir had been undergoing treatment at a local hospital for the past few days. Born in Lahore in 1937, she was a member of a distinguished literary family. Her career in broadcasting began in 1958 with Radio Pakistan, where her program “Saath Rang” gained popularity among the public.

In recognition of her contributions to broadcasting, the Government of Pakistan awarded her the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2015.
