Vote Counting Underway in Gilgit-Baltistan After Polling Ends

Islamabad: In Gilgit-Baltistan, the counting of votes is underway after the conclusion of polling for the general elections. The polling started at eight in the morning and continued without any interruption until five in the evening.

According to Radio Pakistan, 403 candidates are in the fray for the 24 constituencies of the GB Assembly, including 272 independent candidates, while 131 are contesting the elections on the tickets of different political parties.

Strict security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order during the elections. The GB Police, GB Scouts, Rangers, and FC personnel have been deployed at the polling stations.
