Walks and Rallies Held Nationwide to Show Solidarity with Kashmiris

Islamabad: Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir was observed today to express support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and to condemn India’s unilateral actions on August 5, 2019. It was on this day that India stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special status, an action rejected by the international community as well as Kashmiris and Pakistanis.

According to Radio Pakistan, the day was marked across Punjab with a series of events aimed at expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. A one-minute silence was observed at 9:00 AM, and both Pakistan and Kashmir flags were hoisted at important public buildings. The central ceremony took place at Alhamra Hall in Lahore, featuring a special photo exhibition, followed by a solidarity walk.

In Sindh, similar activities were conducted, with a key rally in Karachi led by Senior Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani, which proceeded from People’s Chowrangi to Mazar-e-Quaid.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also joined in the observance, with a main rally from the Governor’s House in Peshawar. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi led the walk, which attracted a significant number of participants from various sectors.

In Quetta, the day was commemorated with multiple events, underscoring the widespread support for the Kashmiri cause throughout the country.
