World Islamic Economic Forum Focuses on Youth Resource

Islamabad, December 06, 2012 (PPI-OT): Three-day World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) which got underway at Johor Bahru, Malaysia focused on role of Muslim youth in using their qualification and knowledge to shore up economies of their countries. More than 1,500 delegates representing 50 countries are participating in the forum where Pakistan is being represented by Defence Minister Syed Naveed Qamar.

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul-Razak welcomed the delegates and stated in his speech, at the opening ceremony of the event, that this forum will tackle a number of strategies and shed light on plans for promotion of education, freedom of economies, using modern technologies, promoting justice, preparing youth investors and political freedom.

The forum themed “Changing Trends, New Opportunities” was also addressed by Defence Minister Syed Naveed Qamar who is participating as Special representative for the President of Pakistan. Addressing the forum, the Minister said that Muslim Youth has great potential and if channelized and given opportunities can prove as one of the best resource. He added “it is unfortunate that a lot of young talent is being lost, therefore it is most timely to provide them with a forum to enter mainstream.” Economic chances are available for Muslim youth and should be well-utilized. The forum urges Muslim nations to change to enable younger generation to grow.

Among the heads of government are Union of Comoros president Dr Ikililou Dhoinine; Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam; special representative for the Qatar Prime Minister, Dr Hussain Al Abdullah; Islamic Development Bank president Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali and Moro Islamic Liberation Front chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim.
