World Lung Day Observance in Pashin Focuses on Preventive Measures Against Lung Diseases

Pashin: A special program dedicated to World Lung Day was held at MERC Saranan District Pashin, organized under the auspices of MERC Balochistan, focusing on raising awareness and promoting preventive measures against lung diseases which annually claim millions of lives globally.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the event featured a speech by Dr. Adeel Ahmed Khan, a recipient of the President’s Medal, who highlighted the critical importance of lung health. Dr. Khan emphasized that lung diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung infections, and lung cancer are responsible for the death of seven million people each year worldwide. He stressed the significance of breathing as a vital life process and underscored the necessity of maintaining healthy lungs.

Dr. Khan advised the audience to avoid exposure to harmful substances like cigarette smoke, factory and coal emissions, vehicle fumes, allergens, and chemicals, all of which can severely impact lung health. He also recommended using a mask to cover the mouth and nose when visiting hospitals for treatment to prevent the spread of infections and strongly cautioned against self-medication. Concluding his address, Dr. Khan encouraged the community to value their health and work collectively towards building a healthier society.

This initiative by MERC Balochistan aims to enhance public knowledge and actions towards better lung health, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
