Younus Bashir criticizes gas pressure situation in Karachi especially in Sindh Industrial Trading Estate

Karachi, April 23, 2014 (PPI-OT): In a Press statement Younus M. Bashir, Chairman, SITE Association of Industry has criticized the current gas pressure situation in Karachi specially in SITE Industrial Area where again the pressure today has dipped down to less than 1PSI and industries of SITE are completely non-operational this is indeed an alarming situation which might lead to complete closure of the majority of industries.

He further said that SSGCL committed six days of un-interrupted supply if the industrialists close down for one day in a week. Industrialists are abiding forced closure. Which is 13% loss in production over and above every now and then pressure dropped resulting into slow down of production, delay in export shipments, un-employment to daily wage earners and colossal increase in cost of doing business / manufacturing.

He showed his surprise over reduction in number of close days for other sectors where as industries are seriously disturbed because of the low pressure. He appealed to Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Chief Minister Sindh, Governor Sindh and Managing Director, SSGCL to take Cognizance of the situation and help the industry before its too late.
