Zardari and Zhao Leji Discuss Strategic Ties and CPEC Development

Beijing: President Asif Ali Zardari met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, to discuss bilateral relations. The meeting underscored the enduring friendship and strategic trust between Pakistan and China.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the leaders highlighted the importance of continued high-level exchanges to deepen practical cooperation. The discussions focused on the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, emphasizing cooperation in science and technology, renewable energy, infrastructure, and agriculture.

Both sides described CPEC as an example of people-centric development, with a focus on win-win cooperation and shared benefits. They also explored opportunities to strengthen institutional linkages, including parliamentary exchanges and participation in the CPEC Political Parties Joint Consultative Mechanism.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to further solidify bilateral cooperation, ensuring that the longstanding partnership continues to flourish.
