Ziarat’s Pechi Dam Filled to Capacity Following Heavy Rains, Official Inspection Reveals

Ziarat: The Pechi Dam in Ziarat has reached full capacity due to recent heavy rainfall, prompting an inspection by Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Ali Kakar to assess the situation and potential damages. The dam’s spillway continues to discharge water, and its main wall has been opened to manage the flow.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Deputy Commissioner Kakar emphasized the need for rigorous assessment of the damages caused by the rains and affirmed the government’s commitment to addressing these impacts. He highlighted the importance of precautionary measures by the public during such natural events to minimize damage. Additionally, Kakar has ordered a re-examination of the Pichi Dam and other similar structures to ensure their integrity and functionality.

The inspection and subsequent actions underscore the challenges posed by natural disasters in the region and the government’s proactive stance in mitigating their effects through preparedness and timely response.
