Karachi: The tenth death anniversary of humanitarian and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi is being observed today. Abdul Sattar Edhi, a prominent figure known for his extensive charitable work, left an indelible mark on society with his relentless dedication to helping those in need.
According to Radio Pakistan, Abdul Sattar Edhi was born on February 28, 1928, in Gujarat, British India. He embarked on his mission of social welfare in 1951, laying the foundation for what would become a monumental network of services aimed at assisting the underprivileged. Among his most notable contributions was the establishment of the world’s largest volunteer ambulance network, alongside shelters for homeless individuals, facilities for animals, and orphanages spread across the nation.
Throughout his lifetime, Edhi was the recipient of numerous accolades, both international and national, including the Asian Noble, the Lenin Peace Prize, and Nishan-e-Imtiaz, all awarded in recognition of his selfless services to humanity.
