15th International Book Fair event comes to a successful end

Karachi, December 09, 2019 (PPI-OT): The 15th International Book Fair came to a successful end on Monday as students from private and government educational institutions, literary people and Karachities joined in huge number. The international Book Fair Event kicked-off on Thursday, 5t December, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah. The event was organized by Pakistan’ Publisher and Book Sales Association at Karachi Expo Centre.

More than 0.5 Million people had visited the book fair within five days showing their keen interest in the event. On Monday various political and religious leaders visited the book fair. A renowned name of Urdu Literature, Raza Ali Abidi expressed his desire to see youngsters come close to book reading habit. He further remarked the work carried out by the private organizations as tremendous whereas slamming any initiative taken by government to be falling short of completion and nothing less than a ribbon -cutting.

Convener of International Book fair, Waqar Mateen extended thanks to the participants of Book fair which includes students, politicians, literary circle for visiting the book fair and announced to extend the hall capacity next year owing to the people over-whelming response.

330 stalls were placed this year as 40 institutions from 17 countries participated in the event. Countries such as UAE, Turkey, China, Malaysia, England and Singapore were at forefront. Whereas 136 book stalls were placed by the local publishers from across the country at KIBF.

Conveners of Karachi book fair, Waqar Mateen and Nadeem Akhtar praised the participation by the highly intellectual people saying that they proved that Karachi is a centre of knowledge and literature and people’s inclination towards book will never end. Furthermore, the management of KIBF also thanked the International participation of book publishers and credited them for their efforts in mitigating the thirst of book lovers.

Moreover, students on the fifth day were entertained via co-curricular activities. ATM van services of private banks were also located to facilitate buyers to withdraw money. Whereas the Ambulance of Anjuman-e-Hilal Ahmer was on the stand still to counter any uncalled mishap and emergency. KIBF deputy convener Nasir Hussain, M Iqbal Ghazyani, Iqbal Saleh, Muhammad Nadeem Mazhar, Kamran Abdul Hussain and others had welcomed the notable guests on their arrival.

Commissioner Karachi, Iftikhar Shalwani, Provincial Minister for law, Murtaza Wahab, MQM(P) leaders, Amir Khan, Faisal Sabzwari, Khawaja Izhar-ul Hassan, Ameen ul Haq former, minister of provincial education and PPP leader, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Mayor Hyderabad – Tayyab Hussain, PSP ex leader, Raza Haroon, Nihal Hashmi from PML(N), Jamat-e-Islami Sindh Ameer – Muhammad Hussain Mehenti, Karachi JI Ameer – Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, Rashid Naseem, Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Muhammad Saleem Baig, National Book Foundation chairman – Dr Inam-ul HAq, Chairman East, Mooed Anwar, Senior Journalist, Qazi Asad Abid, Mehmood Shaam, Saeed Khawar, Abdul Qadir Khanzadah, renowned poet Amjad Islam Amjad included.
