17th Death Anniversary of Poet Ahmad Faraz Observed

Lahore: The seventeenth death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet, Ahmed Faraz was observed on Monday. Ahmad Faraz, whose real name was Syed Ahmad Shah, was born on January 12, 1931, in Kohat.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmad Faraz began his career as a scriptwriter for Radio Pakistan Peshawar before transitioning to an academic role as a lecturer at Peshawar University. His literary contributions include notable works such as “Janaan Janaan,” “Tanha Tanha,” “Ghazal Bahana Karun,” and “Shab Khoon.”

Faraz was associated with the Progressive Writers Movement and was honored with several prestigious national and international awards, including the Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz. He passed away on this day in 2008, leaving behind a rich legacy in Urdu literature.
