3000 vehicles stranded on highway; flood alert sounded in IIOJK

Srinagar, July 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Srinagar-Jammu Highway was blocked due to landslides in Ramban, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, following heavy rains while two Indian Army soldiers were washed away in flooded Nallah in Surankote area of Poonch district. According to Kashmir Media Service, over 3000 vehicles have been stranded at different places, including Jammu, Srinagar, Nagrota, Katra-Domain, Dhar Road, Udhampur Bypass, Chenani, Nashri, Kud, Chanderkote, Ramban, Banihal and Qazigund. A convoy of vehicles carrying about 5000 pilgrims was also stranded at Chanderkote.

Reports from Poonch said that two Indian Army soldiers were washed away in a Nallah near Poshana in Surankote area of Poonch district. It was raining heavily in the upper reaches and the soldiers were crossing Nallah at Poshana. Suddenly, the water level started rising and the soldiers were washed away in the Nallah. They were later identified as Naib Subedar Kuldeep Raj and Sepoy Telu Ram.
