53rd Martyrdom Anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Commemorated

Islamabad: The fifty-third martyrdom anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military honor, was commemorated on Thursday. Major Akram is remembered for his valor during the 1971 War, where he played a pivotal role in defending his position against enemy forces in the battle of Hilli.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Major Akram was born on April 4, 1938, in the village of Dinga near Kharian Cantt. His actions during the 1971 War are celebrated for their bravery as he successfully repulsed numerous enemy attacks, causing significant enemy losses. Major Akram was laid to rest in the village of Boaldar in the District-Dinajpur, Bangladesh.
