9 years on, justice eludes Wamiq Farooq’s family: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, January 31, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that justice continues to elude the family of Wamiq Farooq killed by Indian police in Srinagar in 2010. Wamiq Farooq, a class 7th student, was killed when a teargas shell fired by the Indian police hit him at Rajouri Kadal in Srinagar on January 30, 2010.

Taking to Twitter, Mirwaiz said despite passing of nine years into the killing of Wamiq Farooq justice still eludes him till this day. “His grieved father and many others like him relentlessly continue their fight to seek justice for the brutal killings of their loved ones,” Mirwaiz tweeted on the ninth martyrdom anniversary of Wamiq Farooq.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leaders including Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, Syed Muhammad Shafi and the spokesman of Islami Tanzeem Azadi, in their statements issued in Srinagar paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Wamiq Farooq on his martyrdom anniversary.
