A provincial meeting held at Ministry of Climate Change chaired by Advisor to PM Amin Aslam to plan massive afforestation on 2nd September

Islamabad, August 27, 2018 (PPI-OT): A provincial meeting held at Ministry of Climate Change chaired by Advisor to PM Amin Aslam to plan massive afforestation on 2nd September. Earlier in cabinet meeting, it was decided to start mass tree plantation. In this regard 2nd September will be massive afforestation day depending upon the approval from Prime Minister. Advisor to PM Amin Aslam said while talking to participants that billion tree Tsunami is a successful story recognized at national and international level. Now we have to spread this program to whole country. He also highlighted that Green Pakistan Program will be integrated into 10 billion Tree Tsunami.

He further emphasized that monitoring of plants is very important with plantation. He also mentioned that we would write to Chief Ministers to inaugurate this mass afforestation on 2nd September in their respective provinces. He also mentioned that massive afforestation is planned on 2nd September tentatively. Trees will be planted and distributed all over Pakistan on this day. He instructed to include all institutions in this important task. National Highway authority was asked to plant trees on some points along Motorways and Highways. He also told that 1.5 millions trees plantation is planned for second September with approval of Prime Minister.

All provinces will establish free distribution points for citizen two days before so they can get. He further told the participants that a massive media campaign will be launched to create public awareness. He also instructed the provinces to provide targets for massive afforestation for 2nd September 2018. Green Pakistan Program also gave a detailed presentation about second September, massive tree plantation countrywide. The purpose of campaign is to encourage people, communities, organizations, business and industry, civil society and government to collectively plant trees for creating awareness about benefits of forests and to increase forest cover in big cities of the country. The focus would be to plant species according to area and weather conditions.
