Aashura Observance in Kargil Marked by Solidarity with Palestinians

Kargil: The observance of Aashura, the 10th day of Muharram, in Kargil was notably marked by expressions of solidarity with the Palestinian people, incorporating themes of global injustice alongside traditional commemorations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the event saw children carrying dummy coffins to symbolize the martyrs of Gaza, while participants waved a 20-meter-long Palestinian flag and voiced support for Palestine with slogans like “Down with America,” “Down with Israel,” and “We stand with Gaza.”

The procession, which included mourners from various suburban villages, convened at the main bazaar before concluding at Hussaini Park. Clerics at the event linked the historical martyrdom at Karbala with contemporary struggles against oppression, emphasizing the importance of standing against modern-day tyrannies as a true reflection of the Aashura’s spirit.
