Karachi, January 01, 2014 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has said that encroachments underneath the all flyovers in Karachi were being removed and those places being evicted from occupiers and this operation in compliance with the orders of Divisional Bench of High Court comprising of Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Farooq Shah will carry on till the complete removal of encroachments underneath the flyovers.
He said this while monitoring the operation against encroachments underneath the Baloch Colony flyover where he was accompanied by Sr. Director Municipal Services Masood Alam, Director Anti-Encroachment Mansoor Khan, Legal Advisor Sultan Ahmed and other officers. Police, Law Enforcement Agencies and personnel of anti-encroachment along with Anti-Encroachment Team took part in this operation.
On this occasion heavy machinery were used and workshops, shops and other encroachments underneath the flyover were demolished.
High Court Divisional Bench on Wednesday morning issued directive to Administrator Karachi to remove encroachments underneath all flyovers in Karachi including Baloch Colony Flyover.
Administrator Karachi said that encroachments would not allowed to be established on KMC lands, buildings, parks, play grounds and other properties especially encroachments were being demolished underneath above 40 flyovers.
On this occasion he directed that Anti-Encroachment Department and concerned officers should assure that encroachments should not be established and efforts of land mafia to establish encroachments underneath the flyovers should be foiled.
He said that encroachments not only affect beauty and planning of the city but also cause traffic jam issues and create problems for pedestrians on footpaths.
He said that clear orders of Supreme Court were here and they were being followed in this regard.
He said that it is the responsibility of civic organization to clean the city and remove encroachments therefore Department of Anti-Encroachment should utilize all its efforts in this connection.
He said that KMC and DMCs under mutual strategy should carry out effective campaign against encroachments so that every type of illegal constructions and encroachments should be removed from the city.
Administrator Karachi said that encroachments on city roads including carts, patharas and others should be removed so that citizens could be provided with facilities and convenience.
