Karachi, June 09, 2016 (PPI-OT):Eleven companies under the auspices of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) are participating in Africa Health Expo which is a 3 day event being held from 8th June to the 10th June 2016 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, South Africa. These companies are namely: JN Enterprises, Tata Surgical Pvt. Ltd, Pharmevo Pvt. Ltd, Faisal Pharmaceutical Industries, Maple Pharmaceutical, Shafi Life Care, Snaa Industries, B.A.K Industry, Afzal Saeed Manufacturing Corporation and Weldon Industries (Pvt.) Ltd.

Africa Health Expo showcases products like hospital and clinic services, hospital requirements and accessories, medical equipment manufacturing services, medical equipment supplies, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and compounds, medicines and other specialized medicines. This is the largest exhibition of health related products in African Continent and it has been organized since 2010.More than 20 countries including Germany, France, Brazil, China, India, and Turkey are participating in addition to 400 exhibitors from across the globe.

This participation is pursuant to the Africa Plan of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan. Pakistani exports are increasing in Sub-Saharan African region and this exhibition will further give a boost to the exports of Pakistani healthcare related products.

Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for 11 percent of the world’s population, yet bears 24% of the global disease burden. Sub-Saharan Africa’s improving economic performance means the demand among all sectors of society for healthcare is poised to increase reaching a market value of $35 billion by 2016.

This boom in demand and resultant growth has resulted in massive opportunities for people involved in the healthcare industry. With an estimated 500,000 – 650,000 hospital beds to be built in the next decade, the resulting demand in hospital equipment, medical devices and pharmaceuticals and the healthcare market in the sub-Saharan African continent is poised for substantial growth.

South Africa has imports of around US$ 6 billion in medical equipments and pharmaceuticals products; therefore Pakistan is converging efforts in this market to secure a larger share. Pakistani exports are still far below the potential as Pakistan can penetrate into hospital textiles, emergency response services, medical and nursing human resource supply in the region.

HE Najm us Saqib, High Commissioner of Pakistan for South Africa visited the exhibition and assured fullest cooperation to the exhibitors for making their stint useful and productive. Mr. Qamar Zaman Commercial Secretary has made all the arrangements for the Pakistani companies in the expo.
