Aggression, repression can never resolve any issue: Sehrai

Srinagar, January 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has said that aggression and repression can never resolve any issue but only aggravate it.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar, reacting to the statement of Governor, Satyapal Malik that “every Kashmiri killing pains me and forces are doing commendable job,” said, “Kashmiris are very sensitive people and can differentiate the tokenism of a solidarity when it comes to pain and sufferings. The Governor is saying two things in same breath, feeling the pain and forces are doing a commendable job.”

He said if the Government of India is sincere, it should address the real cause of bloodshed. He said people of Kashmir yearn for a final solution of the Kashmir dispute to put an end to uncertainty of which they are the worst victims. He added lingering Kashmir dispute is the root cause of immense sufferings of people of Kashmir and also growing uncertainty in the region.

“The resolution of the dispute can always be reached provided there is a willingness to accept the facts in its historical perspective, humanity and mutual respect among the parties involved while addressing the problem,” he said.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai while expressing concern over the plight of Kashmiri detainees said all jails of the occupied territory have been turned into the Guantanamo bay prisons for the Kashmiri political prisoners. Beating of prisoners inside Kot Bhalwal jail is totally unjustified, he said, adding that the detainees again and again complain about the high-handedness of authorities which is a challenge for the international institutions as well.
