Ahsan Iqbal Advocates for Strengthened Pak-KSA Economic Ties

Islamabad: Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has emphasized the need to align Pakistan-Saudi relations with modern realities by boosting trade. In a meeting with Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Al Falih, Iqbal highlighted the enduring uniqueness of the relationship between the two nations and proposed that strengthening political ties through robust economic cooperation is essential.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Iqbal and Al Falih discussed potential areas for enhancing bilateral trade, which stood at 4.6 billion dollars in 2022. The ministers agreed on the importance of economic cooperation as a cornerstone for further solidifying their political alliance. Iqbal reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to expanding these ties by working closely with Saudi leadership and focusing on increasing agricultural productivity as a major area of development.

The conversation also touched upon the long-standing nature of Pakistan-Saudi relations, which have consistently withstood various challenges over the years. Both sides are keen to explore new avenues for trade and economic partnership, reflecting their mutual interests and historical friendship.
