Ahsan Iqbal Announces Formation of 17 Task Forces to Advance Sustainable Development Goals

Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has announced the creation of 17 specialized task forces aimed at advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Pakistan. These task forces will comprise experts from the government, political parties, and both the public and private sectors to drive collaborative efforts toward achieving these global targets.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Iqbal, while addressing an event in Islamabad, emphasized the importance of uniting political forces and experts across sectors to move the country toward progress and prosperity. He urged that instead of resorting to street protests, national stability should be pursued through constructive dialogue in parliament and relevant forums.

Iqbal highlighted the central role of human resource development in national growth, stressing that without eliminating poverty and hunger, sustainable development would remain elusive. He noted that 12 of the 17 SDGs are directly linked to critical areas such as poverty eradication, education, gender equality, clean water, and affordable energy.
