Karachi: Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, underscored the significance of technological collaboration and innovation during his visit to the International Defence Exhibition IDEAS-2024 at Karachi Expo Centre. The event, now in its 12th edition, highlights advancements in defence and aerospace technology, drawing both national and international audiences.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu toured the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park pavilion, which features technologies in space, cyber, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, aerospace designing, sensors, and simulators. He engaged in discussions with national partners about the role of technological collaboration and stressed the need to transform promising start-ups into small and medium enterprises. Sidhu highlighted the importance of a robust ecosystem that encourages venture capitalism for innovation and growth in the aerospace sector. He also interacted with foreign delegates, discussing opportunities for the sale and purchase of indigenously developed aerospace equipment to promote a self-reliant defence industry.

During his visit, Sidhu advocated for a defence industry framework to identify and bridge gaps in the aerospace sector. He emphasized fostering national and international collaboration to synergize the technological roadmap, ensuring Pakistan remains at the forefront of aerospace innovation.

The Pakistan Air Force’s participation at IDEAS-2024 demonstrates its commitment to technological achievements through the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park, which has become a symbol of indigenization efforts in defence technologies. The initiative aims to foster partnerships that enhance the security and sovereignty of Pakistan.
