Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Visits Pakistan International Airlines Regional Office Dubai

Islamabad: PIA should make further improvement for the convenience of Pakistani community which is attributing over $US 2.2 billion foreign exchange remittance, urged Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan during his visit to PIA Regional Office, Dubai.

The Regional Manager of PIA gave a comprehensive briefing to the Ambassador about the efforts being made by the national carrier to effectively serve the Pakistani community residing in UAE by provision of a value added service comprising of competitive and flexible fares, generous free baggage allowance and convenient schedule stretching across all major cities in Pakistan. He was informed about PIA plan to expand its operation from Sharjah where it had already introduced flights to Sialkot, Turbat and Panjgur.

The Ambassador was informed that presently PIA has its network largest operation from UAE with over 85 flights a week and despite prevalent recession in the construction industry, decreased labor demand, flights are operating with 80% seat factor.

The Ambassador acknowledged services of PIA within its given resources after hearing the briefing from Regional Manager of PIA, Mr. Ali Tahir Qasim.

Ambassador Khan was further briefed that in line with community demand, PIA is the only carrier offering 50kg baggage allowance and has not implemented any baggage piece restriction. The national carrier is also transporting human remains of Pakistani nationals free of cost as well as providing one free ticket to person escorting the human remain.

Awareness campaign should be undertaken through the Embassy, Consulate and PIA Regional Office to disseminate information related to PIA baggage facility of 50 kgs which is the highest if compared with other airlines, the Ambassador said.

While meeting the PIA staff, Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan emphasized on attitude of staff sitting on the counters as they are the face of our country. He further asked the Regional Manager of PIA to recommend his staff for award and appreciation on behalf of the government of Pakistan.
