Anniversary of Radio Pakistan to Be Observed on Landmark Day

Islamabad: The anniversary of Radio Pakistan will be observed tomorrow, marking the establishment of the national broadcaster that came into existence simultaneously with the creation of Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the broadcaster was initially known as the Pakistan Broadcasting Service at the time of the country’s inception. It officially began its operations at the stroke of midnight between August 13 and August 14, 1947, coinciding with the birth of Pakistan as an independent nation.

The historic first linking announcement in English about the creation of Pakistan was delivered by Zahur Azar just moments before midnight, setting the stage for a new era. At the turn of midnight, Mustafa Ali Hamdani made the inaugural Urdu announcement, heralding the dawn of the newly formed nation.

Since its inception, Radio Pakistan has played a pivotal role in informing, educating, and entertaining millions across the nation. It has built a comprehensive network that reaches audiences not only throughout Pakistan but also engages with listeners on social media platforms, remaining a vital source of information and culture.
