APHC Appeals to UN for Release of Detained Kashmiri Leaders

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called on the United Nations to step in and secure the release of senior Kashmiri leaders, including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and Aasiya Andrabi. These leaders have been held in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail for several years under charges that are allegedly politically motivated.

According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement in Srinagar urging the international community to urgently address the serious human rights violations being perpetrated by India in Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Minhas highlighted the importance of global intervention to resolve the long-standing Kashmir issue and to protect the lives and rights of the detained leaders who are advocating for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

In a related development, India has announced the deployment of 580 additional companies of Central Armed Police Forces throughout occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This move is purportedly to ensure security during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
