APHC Calls for Unity to Counter Indian Aggression in Kashmir

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has condemned the political, religious, and cultural aggression by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government against the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC’s spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, highlighted the need for unity within the organization to resist the BJP’s anti-Kashmir and anti-peace agenda. He attributed the BJP’s hostile policies toward Kashmir to racial bias, Hindutva ideology, and the aim to establish a Hindu Rashtra.

The spokesman stressed the importance of solidarity among APHC members to counter attempts by India to erase the political, cultural, and religious identity of the Kashmiri people. Minhas noted that the Indian government’s actions are not only aimed at erasing Kashmiri identity but also at suppressing political activities and silencing dissent. This includes ongoing harassment of civil society, religious scholars, academics, journalists, and human rights defenders.

The APHC spokesperson referred to the recent visits of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to the region as “a cruel joke” on the people of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the BJP government continues to mislead the world about the real situation in IIOJK.

Minhas reiterated the Kashmiris’ demand for a peaceful and just resolution to the long-standing Kashmir dispute. He also warned that the unresolved dispute poses a significant threat to peace and stability in South Asia.
