APHC Condemns Restrictions Following Death of Mirwaiz Ahmed Shah

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC-AJK) Azad Kashmir chapter has expressed condolences over the passing of Mirwaiz Muhammad Ahmed, a respected figure whose family has been deeply involved in the struggle for freedom in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK stated at a meeting in Islamabad that Mirwaiz Ahmed Shah’s death leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of the people and in the ongoing fight for Kashmiri self-determination. The meeting included prayers for the souls of Mirwaiz Muhammad Ahmed, Shaheed Dr. Ghulam Qadir Wani, and others who sacrificed their lives for the cause of liberation. Their sacrifices are said to continue inspiring the movement for peace, dignity, and justice for the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The APHC-AJK also condemned the Indian authorities for placing Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest, which prevented him from offering absentee funeral prayers for his uncle, Mirwaiz Muhammad Ahmed. The meeting criticized this restriction on a fundamental religious practice, stating it highlights ongoing efforts to suppress the spirit and unity of the Kashmiri people. Despite such measures, the APHC emphasized that they would not deter Kashmiris from pursuing their legitimate rights.

Former APHC Convener Muhammad Farooq Rehmani and Mahmood Ahmed Saghar asserted that India’s actions cannot silence the resolve of the Kashmiris or deny their fundamental rights. The APHC remains committed to upholding the mission of those who have sacrificed, advocating for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and an end to decades of oppression.
