IIOJK Authorities Restrict Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s Movements Again

Srinagar: The authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have once again placed Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, under house arrest in Srinagar. This action prevented him from attending the funeral prayers held in absentia for his late uncle, Mirwaiz Muhammad Ahmad Shah.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmad Shah, a prominent Kashmiri leader and uncle of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, passed away in Islamabad, Pakistan. The authorities’ decision to restrict Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has drawn criticism from him, as expressed in a video statement released in Srinagar. He condemned his house arrest, highlighting the authorities’ efforts to prevent his participation in the funeral prayers.

In his statement, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq questioned the authorities’ actions, asking if it is now considered a crime to offer condolences and partake in funeral prayers in the region. He expressed regret over the behavior of the IIOJK administration and emphasized the ongoing restrictions on religious and political rights in the area.
