APHC expresses concern over Pak, India tension at LoC

Srinagar, January 20, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has expressed serious concern over the escalation of tension between Pakistan and India on the Line of Control (LoC). The APHC Executive Council in a meeting in Srinagar urged both the nuclear countries to show political maturity and farsightedness and resolve all their pending issues, including the Kashmir dispute, by initiating a meaningful and result-oriented dialogue process.

The meeting was presided over by the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and attended by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Masroor Abbas Ansari, Musaddiq Aadil and Khaleel Muhammad Khaleel.

The participants of the meeting pointed out that the tense relations were not in the interest of the people of both the countries. They said that both the countries should show prudence and political courage to find ways to settle the Kashmir dispute.

The participants castigated a section of Indian media for whipping of war hysteria. They said that instead of helping in normalising the relations, such media frenzy had harmed the relations between the two countries, which was not in the interest of either India or Pakistan.

They called upon the Indian media to play a responsible role by facilitating and encouraging the meaningful negotiations between the two countries instead of war mongering.

The meeting also appealed the people of occupied Kashmir to observe complete strike on 26th January, the Indian Republic Day, and demand from the international community to impress upon New Delhi to fulfil its pledges made with Kashmiris.
