Arabian Sea Depression Moves Toward Oman, Poses No Threat to Pakistan Coast

Islamabad: The depression in the central Arabian Sea has progressed west-northwest over the past 10 hours and is now located in the west-central Arabian Sea, about 1150 kilometers southwest of Karachi. Forecasters expect the system to continue moving west toward the Oman coast and to weaken into a low-pressure area within the next 12 hours. Despite the activity, there is no threat to the coastal areas of Pakistan.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the depression is currently positioned at approximately latitude 16.2N and longitude 61.0E. Squally winds, reaching speeds of 30-40 km/hour with gusts up to 50 km/hour, are likely to persist around the center of the system, and the sea conditions are expected to remain rough until tomorrow. Local fishermen from Balochistan have been advised to exercise caution and avoid deep-sea activities until the weather improves.
