Australia to help empower Pakistani women entrepreneurs: Senior Trade Commissioner

Islamabad, August 23, 2015 (PPI-OT):Senior Trade Commissioner of Australian Trade Commission Nicola Watkinson has said that Australia is keen to empower women entrepreneurs of Pakistan so that they can play active role in economic uplift of the country. She said that empowerment of women always have a very positive impact on the society and the issue cannot be emphasized more.

Talking to Samina Fazil, founder president IWCCI, Zakia Hashmi, President IWCCI and others, she said that Australia will extend all possible support to the delegation of artisans being sent there by TDAP. Nicola Watkinson said that chances of cooperation between fashion industries of both countries are very bright and related people from Australia would be sent to Pakistan to apprise local industry of the trends in Australia.

She said that women empowerment initiatives undertaken by the Pakistani government have sent very positive signals around the world. Empowering women will help improve quality of life of people by reducing poverty in Pakistan, she said, adding that we aim at strengthening entrepreneurial and technical skills of women so that they can become more competitive.

The diplomat said that one year of additional education provided to a women increases income of a family by fifteen percent which benefits the family, community and whole of the society. Australia acknowledges great potential of Pakistani women and will provide them every opportunity to become financially independent.

Speaking on the occasion, Samina Fazil said that Pakistani business women are facing difficulties which must be tackled on preference so that they can boost business to enhance their standard of living. We will leave no stone unturned to assist women, adding that strengthening of the economy is tied to contribution of women who are being provided guidelines and access to financial resources.
