Authorities depriving people of living right: KEA

Srinagar, December 21, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) has said that the puppet administration is snatching the food quota from people of the territory and forcing them to take to the streets against the act. The KEA Chairman, Showkat Chaudhry said that the authorities’ decision to implement the Food Security Act in the territory was aimed at cutting the ration quota and deliberately pushing people towards the worst conditions. “This legislation will deprive many families of their basic right,” he added.

He said that Instead of providing relief to people, the authorities were creating hardships for them, especially the poor as who couldn’t buy ration in the retail market depend on subsidized ration. Showkat Chaudhry said that since the economy of the territory was already under stress and businesses had been hit, it was the primary duty of the puppet administration to provide relief to people through welfare schemes and subsidies.

He also hit out at the authorities for ignoring sectors like horticulture, tourism, transport and general trade, which he said also are under strain. “The regime has failed to rehabilitate shopkeepers affected by Jahangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover construction and other projects. It is also shifting the Batamaloo bus stand. These decisions are totally against people,” he added.
