Azerbaijan and Pakistan Explore Investment and Trade Opportunities

Baku: Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatisation and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan met with Azerbaijan’s Minister for Economy, Mikayal Jabbaro, in Baku to discuss potential bilateral investments and trade. The discussions focused on opportunities in privatisation and various sectors including energy, communications, and agriculture.

According to Press Information Department, Abdul Aleem Khan extended an invitation to the Azerbaijani government to participate in the privatisation of several Pakistani state-owned entities, such as Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Utility Stores, Zari Tarqiati Bank, and Distribution Companies (DISCOs). He highlighted the potential for increased trade between the two countries and identified sectors like LNG, renewable energy, IT, and telecom as areas ripe for investment.

In the communications sector, Khan proposed Azerbaijan’s involvement in the Karachi to Sukkur Motorway M6 project, emphasizing its significance due to its direct link to the seaport. Minister Jabbaro expressed satisfaction with the direct flights between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, which have boosted tourism, and assured full cooperation from his government. Both ministers praised the strong ties between their countries and expressed optimism about further enhancing these relations.
