Balochistan Food Authority Cracks Down on Substandard Food Production

Quetta: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has intensified its crackdown on food centers and factories producing substandard goods across several cities including Quetta, Dhadar, Loralai, and Gwadar. Recent operations have led to the sealing of an illegal factory producing tiki toffee under unsanitary conditions and the fining of over 20 food center owners for regulatory violations.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the sealed factory was notably manufacturing tiki toffees without proper sanitation, air quality control, or adherence to food safety standards. Inspections revealed the use of non-food grade chemicals and colors in production, with no visible production or expiration dates on products. Additionally, the water used in processing was contaminated, and the personal hygiene of factory workers was found to be inadequate, lacking necessary health certifications and protective gear.

The BFA’s recent actions also extended to various other establishments where expired and banned products were seized, including cooking oil companies and baking units, emphasizing the authority’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
