Karachi: Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), announced that the Governor and Chief Minister of Balochistan have endorsed the FPCCI’s Balochistan Strategy Summit. The summit aims to address the province’s economic, trade, and law and order challenges.
According to a statement by Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the summit, which lasted two days, featured participation from notable political and business figures, including Dr. Gohar Ejaz, Mr. S. M. Tanveer, and Mr. Allauddin Marri. Discussions focused on the need for industrialization, tax incentives, and the establishment of the Bank of Balochistan to enhance economic activities.
Mr. S. M. Tanveer emphasized the positive response from Balochistan’s leadership towards the business community’s demands. He urged the provincial government to allocate funds to bolster district economies.
Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon highlighted the necessity of a dedicated financial institution in Balochistan, akin to those in other provinces, to facilitate industrial financing.
Mr. Nasir Khan proposed a public-private partnership model to create institutions that support the business ecosystem. He also suggested withdrawing the i-form condition for imports to curb smuggling.
Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail called for a marketing campaign to attract investment, assuring safety and security for investors. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced infrastructure projects and the establishment of the Bank of Balochistan, aiming to utilize 90 percent of the PSDP funds by June 2025.
