Bandipora court rejects bail plea of ASI involved in fake encounter

Srinagar, June 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a court in Bandipora district has rejected bail plea of an Assistant Sub Inspector of Indian police involved in several fake encounters.

The ASI, Farooq Ahmad Gudoo, is one of many Indian policemen involved in picking up several civilians, murdering them in staged gunfights and passing them off as militants for money and awards.

The ASI had moved the bail application in the court of the Principal Sessions Judge in Bandipora on “medical grounds” in connection with a case registered in 2006. The case pertains to the fake encounter killing of one Ghulam Nabi Wani from Nowbug Kokernag area of Islamabad district. Wani was picked up from outside Biscoe School in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar where he plied a cart for selling clothes. A father of four children, he was killed in a fake encounter in Sumbal area of Bandipora district in 2006 and dubbed as a foreign militant.

The court dismissed the bail application of the ASI. “It is quite pathetic to mention herein that under the cover of the medical bail the accused are using it in the shape of regular bail and frustrate the proceedings of the challan,” Principal Sessions Bandipora, Amit Sharma said.

The court said that the petitioner who is an accused committing such types of horrendous crime of murder is not entitled for medical bail.
