Dhaka: Bangladesh has canceled the judicial training program for its judges and court officers scheduled to take place in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the circular issued by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs revealed that the training session was set for February 2025, with 50 Bangladeshi judges and court officers expected to participate. The costs of the program were to be borne by India.

Indian media reports stated that Bangladesh canceled its participation in the training session on the instructions of its Supreme Court. The agreement for this training program was made during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure. The nominated officials included Assistant Judges, Senior Assistant Judges, Joint District and Session Judges, Additional District and Session Judges, District and Session Judges, and other officers.

Relations between India and Bangladesh have soured following the rise to power of Bangladesh’s interim government under Mohammad Yunus.
