Bank Alfalah Joins Forces with TCF to Rebuild Flood-Hit Areas

Islamabad: Bank Alfalah has announced a significant collaboration with The Citizens Foundation (TCF) to support communities affected by the 2022 floods in Pakistan. The initiative, part of Bank Alfalah’s Flood Relief Program, allocates an additional PKR 177 million towards the rehabilitation of these communities through educational, health, and sustainable development projects.

According to a statement by Bank Alfalah, the bank has designated PKR 103 million for constructing three new schools, two in Balochistan and one in Sindh. Each school is designed to serve 180 students, with an additional PKR 5 million allocated for operational costs. Further support of PKR 25 million will go towards installing water filtration plants, solar power systems, and establishing 200 Aghai Centers, which aim to empower women through financial and literacy support.

This latest contribution brings the total number of schools supported by Bank Alfalah to four, collectively providing educational opportunities for 720 children from flood-affected areas. The partnership, which began in 2022, initially saw the bank commit PKR 35 million for relief efforts, including the distribution of essential items to affected communities.

Atif Bajwa, President and CEO of Bank Alfalah, emphasized the importance of the partnership, noting the bank’s commitment to enhancing education and infrastructure in the regions most impacted by the floods. Bajwa highlighted the role of literacy in empowerment and progress, expressing hope that these initiatives would create lasting opportunities for the affected communities.

Mushtaq K. Chhapra, Co-Founder and Director of The Citizens Foundation, expressed gratitude for Bank Alfalah’s support. Chhapra underscored the significant impact of these projects, which aim to provide crucial resources and opportunities for individuals in flood-hit areas.
