Muzaffarabad: The Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir inaugurated its 88th branch in Rahim Kot, Chakar, aiming to enhance commercial activities in the region. The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, and the Minister for Finance and Cooperatives, Khan Abdul Majid Khan, who also serves as the Chairman of the Bank.
The event saw both guests cutting the ribbon and unveiling the plaque to mark the opening of the new branch. Chaudhry Latif Akbar also opened his account at the new facility. Local dignitaries, including Shahid Shahzad Mir, President and CEO of the Bank, and other senior officials, attended the ceremony alongside a significant number of local residents.
The establishment of the Rahim Kot branch is set to offer banking services to thousands of customers from numerous villages such as Namt Fatot, Perot, and Haveli, among others. The presence of educational institutions and government offices in Rahim Kot, including a girls’ college, a boys’ college, and a rural health center, underscores the potential impact of the new branch on the community.
Residents have expressed gratitude to the bank and government for this initiative, viewing it as a significant step toward regional development. They believe the new branch will facilitate easier access to banking services, eliminating the need to travel long distances for financial transactions.
Shahid Shahzad Mir emphasized the bank’s commitment to extending quality financial services to remote areas. He assured that the bank would continue to expand its network across Azad Kashmir, offering modern banking facilities to underserved communities.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the prosperity of the bank, the state, and the nation.
