LAHORE: The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has received a significant financial boost with a combined donation of Rs 550 million from Bestway Group and United Bank Limited (UBL). The contribution supports LUMS’ mission to provide high-quality education to talented students irrespective of their financial circumstances.
The ceremony, hosted by LUMS, saw Lord Choudrey, Chairman of Bestway Group, and Muhammad Jawaid Iqbal, President and CEO of UBL, each presenting a cheque for Rs 275 million on behalf of their respective organizations. The event was attended by prominent figures from both institutions, including Syed Babar Ali, Founding Pro Chancellor of LUMS, and Dr. Parvez Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees at LUMS.
Bestway Group and UBL have a long-standing relationship with LUMS, with historical ties dating back to 1991 when Bestway Foundation UK established an endowment at the Suleman Dawood School of Business. The partnership underscores a shared belief in the transformative power of education to drive national progress.
The donation aims to bolster LUMS’ capacity to deliver world-class education and to cultivate leadership grounded in innovation and societal service. The initiative aligns with the National Outreach Programme at LUMS, which has been actively supported by both Bestway Foundation and UBL.
