BMP Progressive Stands Firm: No New Alliances in Upcoming FPCCI Elections

KARACHI: The Businessmen Panel Progressive (BMPP) has resolved not to pursue new alliances in the upcoming Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) elections. This decision, made during a key meeting in Karachi, was backed by patrons, chairpersons, and representatives from around 50 trade bodies nationwide.

The meeting highlighted BMP Progressive’s commitment to serving the business community impartially, with participants pledging their continued support. The group also presented an overview of its work within the FPCCI, which was met with strong approval.

Chairman Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, alongside Vice Presidents Aman Paracha and Asif Sakhi, expressed gratitude for the cooperation received from FPCCI President Atif Ikram, which helped address business community challenges. Magoon emphasized BMPP’s independence and focus on merit over power ambitions.

The group voiced opposition to certain federal budget measures, urging the government to lower electricity tariffs and interest rates to boost economic growth.

The committee announced Shujjat Ali and Shahid Ali as Vice Chairmen for Karachi and reaffirmed BMP Progressive’s stance against new alliances. They called for clarity from the United Business Group on future collaborations.

A successful alliance with UBG in the previous FPCCI elections showcased BMP Progressive’s growing influence. The group plans to expand its support base through a nationwide outreach campaign.

The meeting concluded with a dinner honoring Magoon, attended by representatives from 65 trade bodies, further demonstrating BMP Progressive’s rising prominence.
