Canada and OGDCL Forge New Path in Energy and Mining

Islamabad: The Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mr. Tarik Ali Khan, visited the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) Head Office to explore joint venture opportunities in the upstream oil and gas and mining sectors. The meeting was held with OGDCL’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Ahmed Hayat Lak, to discuss potential collaborations and revive training programs.

The discussions underscored Canada’s interest in partnering with Pakistan to advance Exploration and Production (E and P) and mineral development. Both parties agreed to reinstate training programs at the Oil and Gas Training Institute (OGTI) with the involvement of Canadian institutions. This initiative aims to build upon Canada’s previous support in establishing OGTI as a Centre of Excellence.

Mr. Tarik Ali Khan praised OGDCL’s operations and its diversification strategy, with particular emphasis on the company’s investment in the Reko Diq Project. This investment is seen as a testament to Pakistan’s potential in the minerals sector.

This engagement reflects OGDCL’s dedication to international collaboration and sustainable development, furthering its goals of capacity building within the energy and mining industries.
