Islamabad: Specialized training and capacity building is, no doubt, very much essential for the police officers who are fighting, to root out the menace of terrorism and also performing their other responsibilities including detection of crime and maintenance of law and order.
It was stated by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Wajid Ali Khan Durrani here on Friday while addressing the concluding session of Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) Course and Joint Graduation Ceremony on Crisis Response Team (CRT) and Identifying and Developing Investigative Information Courses (IDII).
DIG (Headquarters) Ahmed Mukarram, SSP Headquarters Zubair Ahmed Hashmi, SSP (Traffic) Dr. Moeen Masood, SP Headquarters Abdul Ghaffar Qaisarani, DSP Bakhtiar Ahmed Lillah, DSP Headquarters Ashraf Shah and other police officials were also present on the occasion.
The IGP said that Islamabad Police have always showed professionalism, courage and determination in facing the challenges of fight against terrorism, both in the prevention and detection of terrorism cases.
The IGP thanked the instructors and trainers including Robert A. Clark, Resident Program Manager, Dan Habib, Deputy Program Manager, Billalobos and Edward Mango for their keen interest in imparting professional training among policemen.
He said that participants of Crisis Response Team (CRT) course (25 police officials i.e 12 from KPK and 13 from Islamabad Police) must have learnt a lot during training under the guidance of Mr. Billalobos Lead Instructor and his team .
It is to mention that participants during this tactical training have been provided hands-on outdoor firearms training, raid and assault simulations, and other standard crisis response skills for use in an urban environment.
Wajid Ali Khan said that participants have developed the basic skills required to resolve high-risk terrorist confrontations using a variety of options and employing the minimum force necessary to protect human life.
Speaking to the 17 policemen (four from Punjab, two from Balochistan, two from Sindh, four from KPK and five form Islamabad police) attending course “Identifying and Developing Investigative Information (IDII)”, the IGP said that this course must have enhanced their ability to combat terrorism through the effective use and dissemination of investigative analysis.
He said that participants learning innovative methods for utilizing law enforcement investigative information to combat terrorism and understood the importance of information sharing would perform effectively in the field.
The IGP appreciated the efforts and achievements on the part of ATA in the enhancement of capacity building of the law enforcement agencies and hoped for continuing assistance in future.
